The Why

Hello there! This blog has been an idea in my mind for longer than I can remember.
I hope you find this space to be comforting, inspiring, and connecting.

I will share all the things that make my life burst with color.

  • Health and wellness

  • Relationships

  • Minimalism

  • Love and loss

  • Nature

  • Books

  • The concept and application of hygge—I am all about coziness and connection in my every day.

My Background

For a little more about me, I graduated from Brigham Young University with a major in English and a minor in philosophy. During my time at BYU, I competed on the cross country and track teams. It was a great way to travel and see a bit of the world. After all that running, I am now content to live a slower life. One that is filled with the beauty of the outdoors, a connection to health and wellness, the daily dose of a good book, hot baths, and a deep and abiding connection to those I love most. I am a partner, a mother of four children, and an inveterate seeker.

You can view a bit of my religious transition story here. You can also watch my Thrive Stories episode here.

My latest venture has included being a co-host with my partner, John on the Mormon Stories Podcast. You can tune in most weeks to enjoy the new episodes. I also co-hosted along with John and Natasha Helfer Parker on The Gift of the Mormon Faith Crisis podcast and the earlier Mormon Transitions podcast. So many podcasts, and so little time!! I see clients regularly in my coaching practice (I am a Certified Life Coach through Life Purpose Institute). I occasionally enjoy writing on this blog as I love to connect with others through the sharing of thoughts and ideas. The majority of my work is spent exploring life transitions (shifts that occur within the realm of belief and religion, the experience of death or loss, divorce, illness, or the reality of mid-life) as they all can impact our relationships, identity, how we process grief and loss, and our sense of purpose. As we rebuild during these times of transition, we have the rare opportunity to create a more intentional and authentic life.
