Random Facts About Me

I thought we could do something a little different for this post. Are you ready? Let’s get to know one another a bit better! I will share some random facts about me that you may not know—and you can share a few things about yourself that I may not know. Don’t be shy now! Let’s have a little fun!

RANDOM FACTS ABOUT MARGI

  1. I complete the NYTimes Mini Crossword puzzle most mornings. It is like a brain vitamin that seriously makes me happy.

  2. Growing up, I lived in Maryland, Ohio, Florida, and North Carolina. My summers included trips to Vermont. Once married, we lived in Washington DC, Dallas, Chicago, Seattle, Logan, and SLC, Utah. Vermont is my soul state. I love everything about it. Ok…maybe winter could be a little shorter? Salt Lake City does feel like my true home these days.

  3. I have a fear of heights.

  4. I really enjoy being alone.

  5. I have an appreciation for things that appeal to the senses. Like…experiencing the smell and glow of candles (these are my current favorites). Savoring some quality dark chocolate. Wearing fragrances I love that tend to vary with the season. Cuddling in soft blankets. Drinking and feeling the warmth of a cup of coffee or tea. Enjoying the calm ambiance of a room accented with twinkle lights. Adding the comfort of a heating pad to almost any situation! Being in nature. Making and/or eating fresh food. Feeling the joy of a simple pair of cozy socks. Listening to morning birds or any music that suits my mood. Feeling the warmth and light of the sun on my face. Relaxing into a massage. Sorry, I got a little lost there! But there are so many delightful options. Do you see what I mean?

  6. I developed an eating disorder as a competitive runner in high school. Running saved my life as it gave me something to live for.

  7. Hiking in nature, practicing yoga and meditation, and being awake to my experiences helped to bring me back to myself.

  8. My celebrity crushes are Karamo Brown from Queer Eye, Timothee Chalamet, John Legend., or Ashlyn Harris. And I also love Jenni Kayne and Julia Roberts.

  9. I am obsessed with tiny homes and small living spaces. Have you seen The Tiny Canal Cottage?

  10. I cherish and value supporting my children’s creative impulses. Writing. Drawing. Crafting. Photography. Playing music. Right now, I really enjoy listening to Winston play the drums in our home.

  11. The three major things I feared came to pass within a space of five years. I am better for it. The fears were— having our choices hurt our children (public ex-communication, our lack of self-awareness as we parented from our own wounds and fears), experiencing a major marital tumult (or two), and losing someone I love (particularly post religion).

  12. I enjoy a good, impromptu dance session! Anytime. Anywhere. Kitchen or dance club.

  13. I tend to wear the same three colors. Black. White. Grey.

  14. I grew up really hating my nose. Now that my dad is gone—when I look in the mirror—I see so much of him looking back at me. It is a small comfort but it is something.

  15. I am not overly attached to things. The one bit of nostalgia I do feel is in the form of letters from those I love. I am intentional about what I keep but I do have an assortment of writings in a small basket in our family room where I can regularly read them.

AND HERE ARE A FEW EXTRAS FROM MY DAUGHTER, MAYA—WHO HAS BEEN WORKING ON MY BLOG RECENTLY!

  16. “If you compliment something my mom wears, she will probably take it off and give it to you!”

  17. “My mom is passionate about bath-taking!”

  18. “I know lines from thirty different songs that I have never actually heard, just from having my mom sing these random lines over and over again!”

  19. “My mom has a closet of like three items. If she buys a fourth, one of the original three must be donated to maintain the equilibrium!”

  20. “My mom cries easily and tenderly just like her dad did.”

I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR A FEW THINGS ABOUT YOU NOW! NOTHING IS TOO SMALL OR INSIGNIFICANT TO SHARE, LET ME ASSURE YOU!
